Darkness Has No Power Over You

I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life (John 8:12).

The presence of light causes darkness to leave. Where there is light, darkness cannot exist. When problems in your life seem to be pulling you down into the pit of darkness, then you must make the decision to walk in the light of God’s promise to you. As you follow His light, the darkness will always dissipate because darkness is subject to the light.

Satan is the prince of darkness, but Jesus has already defeated him. The Bible even says that Jesus made a public mockery of him and defeated death (Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14). Jesus has authority over darkness and He has given that authority to all who believe (Luke 10:19).

Remember this today. If you are a Christian and you are being attacked by darkness, darkness is not really the problem. The problem is lack of light. So let your light shine (Matthew 5:16). Greater is He (the Light) who is in you than he (the darkness) that is in the world (1 John 4:4). The bottom line is this: God is light, and according to Jesus, when we walk in His light, darkness has no power over us because light always overpowers darkness.

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light (John 1:5) (ICB).
